For whole school Community                                              Plan issue date September 2016                                          Evaluation date September 2017

Summary School Improvement Plan

Introduction

As part of our ongoing work in the school, we conducted a school self-evaluation of teaching and learning. For more information on how the evaluation took place, please see our School Self-Evaluation Report which is available from the school.
Over the past three years our focus has been on the following areas
  • The formulation of new homework and attendance policies.
  • Developing a literacy programme
  • Developing a programme for numeracy

Summary of school self-evaluation findings

Our school has strengths in the following areas

  • There is familiarity among students across all year groups.

  • Most students feel free to approach staff in relation to issues that arise in the classroom or outside as needs arise.

  • The provision of teacher-based classrooms allows for individual personalisation of rooms. Teachers can provide a variety of stimuli to encourage learning.

  • Staff members work as a team to promote a positive learning experience for all students.

  • Staff members endeavour to be inclusive of the individual learning needs of all pupils.

  • Homework and attendance policies have been completed (SIP 2013-2014).

  • There has been increased promoting of Literacy in the classroom (SIP 2014-2015).

  • There has been increased promoting of Numeracy in the classroom (SIP 2015-2016).

We know this because we consulted with students, parents and staff.

Our school will prioritise the following areas for consolidation & development this year (2016-2017)

  • Homework and attendance policy promotion
  • Continued consolidation & development of our literacy programme
  • Continued consolidation & development of our numeracy programme
Our school has set the following targets for consolidation & development
