Students at Assumption Secondary School follow the curriculum set down by the Department of Education and Science.  The Junior Cycle programme is of three years' duration, on completion of which students sit the Department of Education and Science Junior Certificate.

As part of their Junior Cycle studies, students must study the following core subjects - English, Irish, Maths, History, Geography, French or German, Religious Education and Civic, Social and Political Education.
Students may then choose their electives from the following list - Science, Business Studies, Art, Music, Home Economics and Technology.

Students also study the following non-exam subjects - Physical Education and Social, Personal and Health Education.
